I found the compass headings for various DX countries were in the direction as indicated by the map interesting. IE: China is due North

I can’t determine who posted this, but thanks to you! I have actually found this site several years ago, and printed a map for my files, but I’m glad to be reminded of it again. Many people have a mental picture of geography based on viewing “flat” maps, the most common type being the Mercator Projection. Those types of maps are easy to examine, but they also distort our conception of geographical direction. China is considered to be in the “far east,” but “as the crow flies,” clearly…it’s not! Having an azimuthal maps is a good tool to check when trying to determine radio propagation.
